What version of Android am I using?

To determine what version of Android you are using, follow these steps.

  1. Using two fingers, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Open the Settings app.
  3. Tap System.
  4. Find the About phone section.
  5. Locate the section labeled Android version.

Updating your Android device

To update to the latest version of Android, go to the Software update section found in your Settings app. Running this option will search for updates, and prompt you to begin the download and installation of your update.

Note: Smartphones like the Google Pixel will release Android updates shortly after they're officially released. However, with most Android smartphones it's often up to the smartphone carrier to release new updates.
